The Soft Slump Armchair by Faye Toogood is defined by its generous, folded form, where softness and structure sit in quiet balance. Expansive volumes and rounded edges create a relaxed, enveloping seat, grounded by considered proportions that give it a sculptural presence.
Fully upholstered, the chair layers cushioning over a birch and plywood frame, requiring approximately 4 metres of fabric to achieve its deep, slumped profile. Traditional upholstery techniques combine Cocolok padding made from coconut husk and natural latex with British-sourced wool from an RWS-certified farm. This entirely natural composition makes the armchair inherently fire-retardant, while enhancing breathability and comfort.
Resting on blacksmith-worked steel legs or industrial metal wheels, Soft Slump evokes a sculptural object in transit, poised between function and display. Produced in the UK, each piece is finished with a non-removable outer, with subtle colour variation between batches reflecting its material integrity.
