Marialaura Rossiello Irvine (1972) graduated in Architecture in Naples under Riccardo Dalisi. From the poetry of design and a deep respect for tradition, she was catapulted in 2000 into the capital of Italian design, Milan, where she attended a master in Strategic Design at Politecnico. Concreteness became a challenge, marketing, communication and strategy the keynote.

Udine-based Mattiazzi stands apart from its competitors. While many furniture manufacturers rely on third party factories, Mattiazzi operates its own machines using its own skilled craftsmen. The company has been working in this honest way since 1978, when it was founded by brothers Nevio and Fabiano Mattiazzi. Along the way the company has built up a network of workshops that can support its extensive product range. Every Mattiazzi workshop has its own focus – from milling to lacquering – and a particular process always belongs to a specific part of town.

Their highly specialised craftsmen operate the most advanced machinery available to the wood industry, disproving the modern myth that mechanised manufacturing is not a craft.
This localised, and exceptionally professional, approach has allowed it to produce a collection of items that are second-to-none in terms of both quality and style.
