Introducing A STUDY 001–Blæhr Vase: A Study in Glass Reimagined

The Blæhr Vase, a testament to the ceaseless poetry that resides in glass, is poised for a renaissance. Designed by Linnea Ek Blæhr as the first part of the A STUDY project for New Works, this glass objet d’art is on the cusp of its resurgence, with fresh hues and new proportions.

In 2019, New Works unveiled an audacious exploration of glass in collaboration with Danish designer Linnea Ek Blæhr. The original Blæhr Vase defied convention through the intricate art of mouth-blown glass. Guided by a singular wooden mould, the glass was transformed into an exquisite, unpredictable form—conveying depth, character, and a play for the senses.

Returning to their origins, New Works resurrects the Blæhr series—a homage to design, the allure of natural elements, and a relentless curiosity for the creative process, reimagining the Blæhr Vase in two sizes. The original remains a commanding centrepiece that graces the room with or without blooms. Meanwhile, a more slender rendition finds a home on windowsills and in other narrower spaces, where it may hold florals or stand alone as a sculptural testament. It unfolds in three hues: clear, smoky green, and amber—each accentuating the vase’s unique, irregular surface, adding a touch of charm and grace to any environment. The Blæhr Vase—still a tribute to the art of glass design—continues to shatter glass’s conventional boundaries with this new edition.
